About the Wels Catfish
The largest freshwater fish native to most of Europe, with a broad, scaleless body and long whiskers. In southern France it has been filmed lunging onto riverbanks to grab pigeons. Introduced to Spain, Italy, and Britain for sport fishing, where it has become invasive in some rivers.
