About the Scalloped Hammerhead

Named for the notched front edge of its hammer-shaped head, which spreads its electrical sensors across a wide area. Famous for forming huge schools around seamounts by day, as at Cocos and the Galapagos. Disperses at night to hunt alone. Heavy fishing for its fins has made it Critically Endangered.
