About the Megamouth Shark

Discovered only in 1976, when one became tangled in a US Navy ship anchor off Hawaii. A huge-mouthed filter feeder that swims slowly with its mouth open to strain krill and other plankton. Thought to follow prey up toward the surface at night. Sightings remain rare.
