About the Haddock

A relative of cod recognized by a dark blotch above the pectoral fin, sometimes called the devils thumbprint. One of the most popular fish for fish and chips in Britain. Feeds on worms, shellfish, and small fish on the seabed. Smoked haddock is the basis of the Scottish dish Cullen skink.
