About the Blacktip Reef Shark
Easily recognized by the black tips on its fins, especially the first dorsal fin. Often seen patrolling shallow lagoons with its dorsal fin above the surface. Timid toward people but may nip at waders. One of the most common sharks on Indo-Pacific reefs, though populations have declined.
