About the Southern Bluefin Tuna
A large tuna that spawns only in the Indian Ocean south of Java and then ranges across the cool waters of the Southern Hemisphere. Highly valued for sashimi in Japan. Can live for decades. Heavy fishing caused severe declines, and its status was later improved from Critically Endangered to Endangered.
