Moray Eel

About the Moray Eel

Have a second set of jaws (pharyngeal jaws) that launch forward from throat to pull prey in — like the alien in Alien. Poor vision but excellent sense of smell. Often seen with mouth open — they are breathing, not threatening. Work with groupers as cooperative hunting partners.
