Arapaima

About the Arapaima

One of the largest freshwater fish at up to 200 kg. Breathes air with a vascularized swim bladder — must surface every 5-15 minutes. Scales are so tough they resist piranha bites and inspired bulletproof vest research. A living fossil unchanged for millions of years.
